Women of Service Fashion Show Set for August 18
The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Women of Service (WOS) Fashion Show and Vendor Event is just around the corner. The event, set for Thursday, August 18, in Tex Turner Arena, will feature a separate vendor fair with extended hours, a buffet meal with a chocolate fountain, and fashions modeled on stage. All tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the door. The vendor event, free and open to the public, will be set up in the upper concourse of Tex Turner Arena from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vendors will include jewelry, home décor, beauty products, clothing, cookies, canned foods, Operation Christmas Child and more.

Yeary Joins Staff, Pool To Reopen
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Assistant Vice President for Academic and Student Support Services Blaze Bowers has named Porscha Yeary as coordinator of aquatics. Yeary will be at the helm for the grand reopening of the LMU pool on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, after a time of closure for renovations. Renovations to the pool include a new heater with a new liner planned, and the reopening of the indoor pool comes in time for the summer break. The pool is popular with not only LMU students, faculty and staff, but with the community as well. The grand reopening will bring with it popular classes, open swim times and access for birthday parties. The celebration, which is free to attend, is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. and there will be refreshments available. Visitors can swim or just visit, and memberships can be purchased.

Friday May 13th, Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM), the Health Wagon, and officials from Southwest Virginia gathered for the groundbreaking of the new Health Wagon Dental clinic based in Wise, Virginia. Tennessee and LMU-CDM Team to Provide Dental Care in East Tennessee

Honeycutt Named Lincoln Memorial University Chief of Police
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) President Clayton Hess has named David Honeycutt as the new chief of LMU Police and Security. In this role, Honeycutt will oversee all police and security operations at LMU and lead the nationally recognized LMU Police and Security department, which includes a staff of almost 50 personnel including POST-certified police officers, armed security guards, unarmed security guards, dispatchers and administrative staff. In addition to the main campus, the department serves LMU’s nine off-campus learning sites. Honeycutt brings 27 years of law enforcement experience to LMU. Most recently he used his expertise at the Union County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked from 2019 until he accepted the post at LMU.

LMU's Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum Set for Phased Reopening
Following a day of celebration on Friday, the ALLM will offer free admission to the public on Saturday, October 9. A full day of family programming is planned to include activities in the Museum and outdoor fun in the Pioneer Village. In the ALLM, the National Society Daughters of the Union Lincoln Learning Lab will be open for the first time. The lab is a place for children to explore the past through play and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Mathematics). In the Pioneer Village, demonstrations of the connections between science and the Civil War will take place, along with an apple butter demonstration from reenactors. At the Lincoln birthplace cabin, Mr. Lincoln himself (portrayed by Dennis Boggs) will be on hand to talk to visitors about his childhood and experiences as President.

Dr. Wieting Appointed to AOA Council on State Health Affairs
American Osteopathic Association (AOA) President Joseph Giaimo, DO, has appointed J. Michael Wieting, DO, MEd, FAOCPMR-D, FAAOE, to the AOA Council on State Health Affairs and reappointed him to the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Education. Wieting serves as the senior associate dean for LMU-DCOM and also serves as professor of both physical medicine and rehabilitation and osteopathic manipulative medicine.

LMU-CSON Receives Approval to Move Nurse Anesthesia from Master's Level to Doctor of Nursing Practice

PA Alumnus Returns from Seven-Week Medical Outreach Trip to Kenya
LMU-SMS alumnus, Austin Dages, PA-C, MSBHS, spent seven weeks volunteering as a neurosurgery physician assistant at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya. The hospital is accustomed to frequent visits by health care providers year-round, however, Dages was the first neurosurgery visitor in six months due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
