Hamati, Lyons Chosen LMU-DCOM Student Doctors of the Year
Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) students Ashley Hamati and Matt Lyons have each been selected as LMU-DCOM Student Doctor of the Year (SDOY). Hamati will represent Harrogate and Lyons will represent Knoxville as LMU-DCOM candidates for the National SDOY award presented annually by the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) annual meeting in April 2022.

LMU-College of Dental Medicine Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Program Prepares For Accreditation Visit
The Commission currently publishes, in its accredited lists of programs, the year of the next site visit for each program it accredits. In addition, the Commission posts its spring and fall site visit announcements on the Site Visit Process and Schedule area of the Commission’s website for those programs being site visited in the current and next year. Special site visits and initial accreditation site visits for developing programs may be scheduled after the posting on the Commission’s website; thus, the specific dates of these site visits may not be available for publication. Parties interested in these specific dates (should they be established) are encouraged to contact the Commission office. The Commission will request written comments from interested parties on the CODA website.

LMU's Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum Set for Phased Reopening
Following a day of celebration on Friday, the ALLM will offer free admission to the public on Saturday, October 9. A full day of family programming is planned to include activities in the Museum and outdoor fun in the Pioneer Village. In the ALLM, the National Society Daughters of the Union Lincoln Learning Lab will be open for the first time. The lab is a place for children to explore the past through play and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Mathematics). In the Pioneer Village, demonstrations of the connections between science and the Civil War will take place, along with an apple butter demonstration from reenactors. At the Lincoln birthplace cabin, Mr. Lincoln himself (portrayed by Dennis Boggs) will be on hand to talk to visitors about his childhood and experiences as President.

Following their conferral of degrees, Kylie Smith, DVM, MS, and Mary Helen Wilson, DVM, were commissioned into the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, and Victoria Orlando, DVM, was recognized for her service in the U.S. Army throughout her medical school career.

LMU-CSON Receives Approval to Move Nurse Anesthesia from Master's Level to Doctor of Nursing Practice
The Lincoln Memorial University-Caylor School of Nursing (LMU-CSON) has received approval from The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (COA) to transition its current Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Anesthesia concentration to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program beginning in January 2022.

PA Alumnus Returns from Seven-Week Medical Outreach Trip to Kenya
LMU-SMS alumnus, Austin Dages, PA-C, MSBHS, spent seven weeks volunteering as a neurosurgery physician assistant at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya. The hospital is accustomed to frequent visits by health care providers year-round, however, Dages was the first neurosurgery visitor in six months due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
