The Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) has teamed with the LMU Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to offer another joint-degree program - the Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD)/Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) Degree Program. The program will allow LMU Law students to complete a Master of Science in Criminal Justice while pursuing a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.

“The addition of the joint JD/MSCJ program gives our students a third program option from which to enhance their education. Successful degree candidates in either program would earn two advanced degrees simultaneously, giving them an extra edge to stand out in a crowded marketplace and increase their earning potential,” said LMU Law Associate Dean for Enrollment Services Randy Mathews.

Candidates in the JD/MSCJ program would complete the 90 credit-hour juris doctor program, which includes 67 credit hours of required courses and 23 credit hours of elective courses. The majority of those would be completed by attending class in person, although the American Bar Association (ABA) permits a limited number of courses to be offered through distance education. The LMU MSCJ program consists of 30 credit hours, including 18 required core credit hours and 12 elective credit hours, and can be completed fully online. Students in the JD/MSCJ program may use up to 12 credit hours of coursework in approved JD elective courses to fulfill MSCJ program elective credit hours.

LMU Law has offered the JD/Master of Business Administration dual degree program and the JD/Master of Public Administration joint degree program since 2020. The JD/MBA program requires the candidate to complete the 90 credit-hour Doctor of Jurisprudence curriculum and the LMU School of Business 30-hour MBA curriculum. The MBA curriculum can be completed fully online. Like the JD/MSCJ program, the JD/MPA program requires 30 credit hours to complete the MPA degree, and up to 12 JD elective credits may be used to fulfill elective credits for the MPA degree.

Candidates must apply to and qualify for each program separately. Admission to one program does not guarantee admission to the other.
