Doctor of Education (EdD) Program

The Doctor of Education (EdD) program is designed for educators and professionals who aspire to become outstanding leaders across public and private educational settings. Offered in a fully online, asychronous format, the program provides the flexibility working professionals need while maintiaing an engagin learning experience through weekly modules, interactive discussions, and applied activities. Students may prusue concentrations in Instuctional Leadership or Instructional Practice, allowing them to align their doctoral studies with their career goals. Through personalized faculty support, applied research experiences, and early engagement with the dissertation process, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to lead change and adress real-world challenges in education.

Doctor of Education - Instructional Practice (IP)

Educators interested in pursuing district positions in K-12 settings or in higher education where the focus is on adult learning and professional development will find this concentration provides a rich curriculum capable of preparing them for careers they may want to undertake. Successful completion of the coursework and research will enable them to develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge required to become leaders in positions at the Director or Central Office level in instruction and professional development; at the higher ed level as program director or curriculum director; and in private industry leading professional development for educators, among others.

Doctor of Education - Instructional Leadership (IL)

This concentration affords those educators who want to enhance their opportunities in K-12 settings as principals, assistant principals, superintendents, directors, or in related leadership roles at local, regional, state, or even national positions that demand skilled leadership and a comprehensive knowledge base. This concentration provides multiple opportunities to acquire the knowledge needed to pursue such jobs.

EdS Option for LMU Graduates

LMU EdS Graduates who qualify for admission into the LMU EdD program can apply 30 EdS credit hours toward the doctoral program to pursue their EdS concentration within the EdD program. This means your total hours of coursework remaining after the EdS would be 36 credit hours. 

*To qualify for the 36-hour program of studies, students must have completed their EdS at LMU within the last ten years. Potential candidates will be eligible for the 48-hour program of study after ten years. 

Graduate Certificate in Teaching Adults in Higher Education

The LMU EdD Program also has a Graduate Certificate program in Teaching Adults in Higher Education. This program is a 12-credit-hour graduate certificate designed for K-12 professionals, faculty in higher education, workplace professional development leaders, and coaches or trainers to enhance their practice in teaching adults. Faculty who have expertise in their content would benefit from this program as it would strengthen their instructional practice in the classroom. The coursework is aligned to the coursework in the EdD Instructional Practice concentration, and can be applied to the EdD Instructional Practice program of study once the certificate is complete.
