The DCOM Research Department uses the Submittable platform for its Scholarly Activity Forms. Below are guides with instructions for creating a Submittable account and requesting mentor approval for form submissions.

Research Elective Rotation Application

Clinical Year (OMS-III & IV) Elective Research Rotation: 

1. Identify a research mentor
2. Contact your clinical rotations coordinator to schedule research elective dates
3. Complete the Research Elective Rotation Application – Link is above
4. Complete Research Elective Statements Form
5. Complete CITI training and regulatory approvals (IRB, IBCSC, IACUC) if applicable
6. Mid-period and final research elective evaluation forms will be sent from Submittable to the student for the mentor to complete

**Research Elective Rotation Application and regulatory documents must be submitted at least 60 days before the rotation is set to begin.

Research Elective Statements Form

Presenting Scholarly Activity and Research:

1. Submit request to present form before sending your abstract to conference/meeting organizers
2. Upload abstract with application in Submittable
3. Wait for approval from Director of Research and Assistant Dean of Research
4. Once approved, you can submit your abstract to the conference/meeting

Submit a Request for Approval of Abstract/Poster/Presentation

 To present or travel to a conference/meeting as a student:

1. Once you have an approved request to present and have been accepted to a meeting, please complete the travel funds request.
2. The Director of Research and Assistant Dean of Research will review and approve the travel funds request.
3. Upload your hotel booking, airfare booking or proof of transportation, conference registration, and poster fee (if applicable) with your travel funds request in Submittable.
4. You will need to produce itemized receipts for reimbursement of travel expenses.

Student Research Travel Funds Request

1. Submit a request for publication before sending your manuscript to a journal.
2. Upload your manuscript with the request for publication in Submittable.
3. Wait for approval from the Director of Research and Assistant Dean of Research.
4. Once approved, you can submit your manuscript to the journal for publication.
