Preparing the Next Generation of Health Care Providers and Educators
As part of its mission to serve Appalachia and beyond, Lincoln Memorial University established its first physician assistant program at the main campus in 2009. Building on that success and the University’s commitment to advancing healthcare education, LMU launched the Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) program in 2016, followed by a second physician assistant program at the LMU-West Knoxville campus site in 2018.
In response to the continued growth of the physician assistant profession and the increasing demand for highly trained providers, the LMU–School of Medical Sciences was established in 2019. The School has since expanded its reach with the addition of a physician assistant program at the LMU–Tampa campus site—achieving professional accreditation and welcoming its inaugural cohort in January 2026—and the development of a physician assistant program at the LMU-Chattanooga site, with plans to matriculate its first cohort in January 2027 pending accreditation.
The School of Medical Sciences is proud to offer innovative, high-quality programs supported by state-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty, preparing graduates to serve diverse communities with excellence in patient care.

Medical Laboratory Science is a healthcare career that combines advanced laboratory science with modern medical care. LMU offers four distinct Physician Assistant Programs: one in Harrogate, Tennessee; one in Knoxville, Tennessee; one in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and one in Tampa, Florida. LMU Health Sciences Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation Earns National Accreditation

The Lincoln Memorial University Health Sciences Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation (CIPES) has been granted accreditation in the area of Teaching/Education by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), one of the highest recognitions in simulation-based health care education. The accreditation is effective through Dec. 31, 2031.
