Dr. Preye Griffith, a 2024 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University-School of Medical Sciences, has been elected president of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association.
Griffith, a certified physician associate, brings a deep personal connection to the sport and a family legacy that spans generations and continents. Her appointment marks a full-circle moment rooted in service, leadership and a lifelong passion for tennis.
Born into a family with strong ties to the game, Griffith credits her grandfather, Julius Dalton “JD” Foh, with planting the early seeds of inspiration. Foh served as captain of the Bomadi and later the Burutu Lawn Tennis Clubs in Nigeria, and was a respected civil servant and community leader.
“My grandfather wasn’t just a tennis enthusiast—he was a force in our community,” Griffith said. “He used sport as a way to build character, discipline and connection. That legacy lives on.”
Griffith’s path to leadership began informally—supporting her children’s involvement in local tournaments, raising funds and recruiting sponsors. Over time, her consistent presence and quiet leadership positioned her to step up when the association entered a period of transition.
“Next thing I know, I’m nominated and elected,” Griffith said. “It was completely unexpected—but I’m ready to lead.”
In her new role, Griffith plans to focus on growing tennis as a platform for youth development and social impact across the island.
“Tennis builds discipline. It opens doors. It changes lives,” she said. “I’m excited to invest in programs that expand access and opportunity.”
Griffith also credits her time at LMU for shaping her leadership approach.
“Pursuing my doctorate at LMU was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” she said. “But I walked away stronger—more focused, more resilient, and better equipped to lead.”
The School of Medical Sciences, established in 2019, houses LMU’s physician assistant program with a primary care focus in Harrogate, a surgical focus program in Knoxville, the online Doctor of Medical Science program and the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program. The school supports LMU’s mission to serve Appalachia and other underserved areas through quality medical education and student success.
