Career Services and Career Counseling

Career Services at LMU-DCOM

The Office of Career Services at LMU-DCOM is dedicated to supporting students throughout their medical education and beyond. We provide personalized guidance, essential resources, and expert support to help students successfully navigate their career paths—from choosing a specialty to applying for residency.

Support for OMS-I and OMS-II Students

Our team engages early with first- and second-year students through regular email updates and presentations. In the first year, students receive a token for the AAMC Careers in Medicine program, a valuable tool offering specialty exploration and residency assessment resources.

Residency Match Preparation

In collaboration with the Office of Alumni Services, we host a monthly DO Seminar Series, a valuable opportunity for students to network with LMU alumni and hear firsthand about their journeys to residency. During the OMS-III year, we also offer monthly Didactic Sessions designed to walk students through each stage of the residency application process, providing step-by-step guidance and support.

Residency Application Services

Career Services serves as LMU-DCOM’s official representative for all Residency Application Services – ERAS, Residency CAS, Military, SF Match (Ophthalmology), and AUA (Urology). We also coordinate the preparation and submission of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), commonly known as the Dean’s Letter, compiling third-year clinical evaluations and transcript details.

Online Resources via Canvas

Students have full access to the DCOM Career Services Canvas, a digital hub featuring:

  • Residency program opportunities
  • Recorded alumni and career development sessions
  • Application and interview preparation resources

Graduation and Beyond

Our support doesn’t end at graduation. The Office of Career Services provides Medical Education and Licensure Verification for DCOM alumni and serves as the ERAS Fellowship contact for Medical Education Verification. We handle all verification requests to ensure a smooth transition into residency and beyond.
