BSN and ABSN Option

The BSN Traditional Schedule program is offered at two of our campus locations:

• Cedar Bluff, Knoxville, TN: Traditional, 2 years. Spring, fall, spring, fall.
• Main Campus, Harrogate, TN: Traditional, 2 years. Fall, spring, fall, spring.

Admission criteria for the BSN Traditional Schedule option include:

• Admission to LMU
• Application to the BSN program
• Satisfactory completion of general education and program course requirements (Science courses cannot be more than 8 years old)
• Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
• Cumulative college GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Other requirements will be completed once a student is admitted to the program including a background check, drug screen, CPR certification, medical profile, and verification of health insurance.

Acceptance is based on a rolling admissions process. December or January are a good time to apply, but applications may be reviewed year-round.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program will complete a total of 122 credit hours prior to graduation. The program consists of 62 general education credit hours and 60 nursing credit hours. Once the general education requirements have been met, the full time BSN Option student will complete the program in four terms: Term I, Term II, Term III, and Term IV. General education course requirements are listed in Table A and Nursing course requirements are listed in Table B.

• Chattanooga, TN: Fast Track, 17 months. Fall, spring, summer, fall.
• Tampa, FL: Fast Track, 17 months. Fall, spring, summer, fall.

Admission criteria for the BSN Fast Track option include:

• Admission to LMU
• Application to the BSN program

LMU's Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing option is a 12-month pathway designed for students who already hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and want to transition into nursing. The ABSN option is offered at LMU Cedar Bluff in Knoxville, Tennessee and prepares students for BSN-level nursing practice and eligibility to write the NCLEX-RN. 

The ABSN program is offered at one of our campus locations:

• Cedar Bluff, Knoxville, TN: ABSN, 12 months. Summer, Fall and Spring.

Admission criteria for the ABSN Option include:

• Earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Admission to LMU
• Application to the ABSN program
• Satisfactory completion of general education and program course requirements (Science courses cannot be more than 8 years old)
• Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
• Cumulative college GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Other requirements will be completed once a student is admitted to the program including a background check, drug screen, CPR certification, medical profile, and verification of health insurance.

Students enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program will complete a total of 122 credit hours prior to graduation. The program consists of 75 general education credit hours (57 which will have been earned through previous bachelor's degree and 18 hours of required general education courses specific to nursing) and 47 nursing credit hours. The student will complete the program in three terms: Term I (Summer), Term II (Fall), and Term III (Spring). General education course requirements are listed in Table A and Nursing course requirements are listed in Table B.
