RN-BSN Option

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - RN-BSN Option has been designed for the Registered Nurse who already has an ASN degree or a diploma in nursing and desires a higher level degree. Students in the RN-BSN Option are RNs who want to expand their career and education options. This program prepares the RN to function at a professional level and to be a qualified candidate for graduate education.

The RN-BSN Option is offered completely online

*Some seat courses offered at three locations Main campus (Harrogate), Cedar Bluff (Knoxville) and Tampa (Florida).

The RN-BSN Option will:

  • Prepare the baccalaureate nurse as a generalist, caring for individuals, families, community groups, and society at any point on the wellness-illness continuum.
  • Provide RN-BSN Option students with an opportunity for career mobility for the associate degree and diploma educated Registered Nurse.
  • Provide a foundation for continued education in nursing.

 

In order to be eligible for the RN-BSN Option, the applicant must apply to the RN-BSN, have an RN licensure, have an ASN from an accredited institution. The general education requirements can be completed throughout the RN-BSN program.

NOTE : Students who hold a current registered nurse license making application to the RN-BSN Option could receive up to 31 upper-level nursing credit hours for proficiency validated by licensure. In order to receive credit hours for knowledge validated by licensure the registered nurse must:

  • Hold a current unrestricted registered nurse license in the state in which the student resides.
  • Have been active in clinical practice for the last two years, or have graduated from a nursing program within the last year.
  • Have earned a grade of "C" or better in previous nursing courses.
  • Have completed 16 credit hours in the RN-BSN Program in the Caylor School of Nursing
