LMU Tampa PA Program 

Mission

Our mission is to educate PAs to practice primary care medicine with competence, professionalism, and compassion, driven by academic excellence and a desire to care for medically underserved and culturally diverse populations.

 

Vision

Our vision is to grow the workforce of Florida Primary Care PAs by graduating PAs who are highly competent, professional, and who provide care for medically underserved and culturally diverse populations.

Goals and Outcomes Measures (Benchmarks)

  •   Goal 1

    Prepare graduates to practice high-quality, evidence-based primary care medicine.

     

    •   Outcome Measures/Benchmarks:
      • The class will have a first-time PANCE pass rate > 88%
      • On student exit surveys, graduates will report overall increased preparedness to enter clinical practice as compared to pre-program survey results
      • Preceptors in primary care SCPEs will rate >90% of students as meeting the Program’s defined graduate competencies for primary care.
  •   Goal 2

    Inculcate students with professionalism skills that enable them to promote and advance the PA profession.

    •   Outcome Measures/Benchmarks:
      • On student exit surveys, graduates will report an increase in the professionalism skills needed to promote and advance the profession as compared to pre-program survey results.
      • Preceptors will rate >90% of students as competent in demonstrating the level of professionalism needed to enter professional career.
      • Program faculty will rate >90% of students as competent in demonstrating professionalism on end of program summative capstone rubrics.
  •   Goal 3

    Prepare graduates with the skills necessary to meet the medical needs of underserved and culturally diverse populations. 

     

    •   Outcome Measures/Benchmarks:
      • On student exit surveys, graduates will report an increase in preparedness to serve medically underserved and culturally diverse populations as compared to pre-program survey results.
      • Program faculty will rate >90% of students as competent in demonstrating the skills necessary to meet the medical needs of underserved and culturally diverse populations on end of program summative capstone rubrics.

 

Graduate Competencies

  •   Medical Knowledge

    Graduates of the LMU Tampa PA program will be able to:
    MK1- Integrate a broad knowledge of medical science to accurately interpret patient history findings
    MK2- Integrate a broad knowledge of medical science to accurately interpret physical examination findings
    MK3- Integrate a broad knowledge of medical science to accurately analyze and interpret diagnostic and screening tests
    MK4- Integrate a broad knowledge of medical science to accurately recommend medical care and provide patient counseling

  •   Clinical and Technical Skills

    Graduates of the LMU Tampa PA program will be able to:
    CT1- Compile and document detailed patient histories and clinical encounters with clarity and accuracy
    CT2- Execute patient physical examinations using accurate technique
    CT3- Perform basic clinical procedures using accurate technique
    CT4- Access and interpret current evidence-based medical literature and integrate the findings into clinical decisions

  •   Clinical Reasoning and Problem-Solving Abilities

    Graduates of the LMU Tampa PA program will be able to:
    CRPS1- Integrate clinical encounter findings with diagnostic study data to formulate and prioritize a differential diagnosis
    CRPS2- Correlate clinical data to recommend specific diagnostic studies that will aid in diagnostic evaluation of patients
    CRPS3- Interpret patients’ clinical data to formulate comprehensive patient management plans
    CRPS4- Identify and appropriately respond to life-threatening findings and potential health risks during clinical encounters

  •   Interpersonal Skills

    Graduates of the LMU Tampa PA program will be able to:
    IS1- Gather information from and deliver clear, patient-centered, culturally sensitive counseling to patients and their families
    IS2- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the interprofessional health care team
    IS3- Demonstrate respectfulness during interactions with patients and the health care team through active listening

  •   Professional Behaviors

    Graduates of the LMU Tampa PA program will be able to:
    PB1- Provide patient-centered care by showing sensitivity and responsiveness to patent needs and concern for patient welfare
    PB2- Reveal self-awareness by self-critiquing personal knowledge gaps and setting personal goals for improvement
    PB3- Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and strong work ethic by exhibiting adaptability, reliability, and initiative
    PB4-Identify professional limitations as a PA and demonstrate the initiative to seek assistance when needed
    PB5-Demonstrate a knowledge of ethical and legal standards and of PA advocacy processes that guide the profession

 

NCCPA Report/Student Attrition

    The LMU Tampa PA Program anticipates graduating its first cohort of students in December of 2025. PANCE Pass rates will be posted by April 2026. Links to the program's official NCCPA pass rate reports will be posted here when they become available.

    The LMU Tampa PA Program anticipates graduating its first cohort of students in December of 2025. Annual student attrition data will be posted by April of 2026. The Program will post its annual student attrition information on the “Student Attrition Table” provided by ARC-PA. Professional Accreditation

The Lincoln Memorial University Tampa PA Program has applied for Accreditation-Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The Lincoln Memorial University Tampa PA Program anticipates matriculating its first class in January 2024, pending achieving Accreditation-Provisional status at the June 2023 ARC-PA meeting. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding accreditation-provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.
