Preceptor Development

  •   What is Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is a structured educational process designed to ensure that healthcare professionals stay current with advancements in their respective fields. It involves ongoing learning and skill development beyond initial training, allowing practitioners to maintain and enhance their competence throughout their careers. CME activities encompass a variety of formats, such as conferences, workshops, online courses, precepting students, and self-directed learning. By engaging in CME, healthcare professionals stay abreast of evolving medical knowledge, technologies, and best practices and fulfill regulatory requirements, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and up-to-date patient care.

  •   Are LMU SMS preceptors eligible for CMEs?

Through a partnership between the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), ARC-PA-accredited PA programs may submit an annual application to receive eligibility to award AAPA Category 1 CME to their PA preceptors.
