The Equine Veterinary Education Program (EVEP) at Lincoln Memorial University is the first program of its kind among the more than 30 veterinary schools in the United States. Guided by an esteemed advisory board led by Dr. Eleanor Green and Dr. Jim Heird—renowned leaders who spearheaded the Equine Initiative at Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine—the EVEP is designed to meet the demand for highly qualified equine veterinarians.
The program offers a 16-credit Certificate in Equine Veterinary Medicine for currently enrolled Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students. This certificate, awarded upon graduation, recognizes advanced proficiency and a focused commitment to equine practice. In addition, EVEP provides immersive summer experiences at some of the world’s leading ranches, Thoroughbred breeding operations, professional training facilities, and veterinary hospitals.
Through rigorous coursework, experiential learning, and mentorship from leaders in the field, EVEP graduates are prepared to enter equine veterinary practice with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make an immediate and lasting impact on the health and welfare of horses.
