By integrating relevant research topics into the curriculum and offering hands-on opportunities to participate in innovative research projects, we aim to equip students with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to address contemporary challenges in veterinary medicine.
LMU-CVM supports this mission through four dedicated research centers, the Center for Animal and Human Health in Appalachia, the Center for Innovation in Veterinary Education and Technology, the Center for Infectious, Zoonotic, and Vector-Borne Diseases, and the Human Animal Research Team of Appalachia, as well as a specialized metabolomics/lipidomics core laboratory. These centers and the core laboratory are actively engaged in addressing significant research issues relevant to animal and public health, providing students and faculty with opportunities to contribute to scientific discoveries in veterinary medicine.
In addition, LMU-CVM maintains a formal partnership with the University of Kentucky's Gluck Equine Research Center and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory to further expand student involvement in advanced veterinary research.
