Alumni Awards

Each year, the Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) Alumni Awards Committee seeks nominations for one early career DVM achievement recipient, one early career veterinary medical technician or technologist (VMT) achievement recipient, and one VMT merit award honoree.

Awards are presented during the luncheon held as part of the LMU-CVM Continuing Education sessions during Homecoming weekend. This year’s Continuing Education sessions and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 10th, 2026.

Nominations for this year's award are now being accepted! Please see below for information on how to submit a nomination. The nomination window will close on Friday, September 11th, 2026.

Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. The final selection of award recipients will be made by the LMU-CVM Alumni Awards Committee in collaboration with Dean Anderson.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Awards 

Jason Johnson Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medicine Award 

The Jason Johnson Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medicine Award is presented annually to honor outstanding professional achievements by early-career graduates (within ten years) of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. Recipients may be recognized for their contributions in education, government, industry, clinical practice, or other professional endeavors within the scope of veterinary medicine. Established in 2024 by the administration of the Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine, the award is named after Dr. Jason Johnson, a founding faculty member of the college known for his remarkable early career accomplishments.

Veterinary Medical Technician (VMT) Awards 

Mary Hatfield Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medical Technology Award 

The Mary Hatfield Early Career Achievement in Veterinary Medical Technology Award is presented annually to honor outstanding professional achievements by early-career graduates (within ten years) of the Veterinary Medical Technology program. Recipients may be recognized for their contributions in education, government, industry, clinical practice, or other professional endeavors within the scope of veterinary medicine. Established in 2024 by the administration of the Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine, the award is named after Mary Hatfield AS, BS, M Ed, LVMT, LAT who served as the program coordinator from 1986-2008 and the program director from 2009-2015.

Randy Evans Veterinary Medical Technology Merit Award 

The Randy Evans Veterinary Medical Technology Merit Award is presented annually to honor outstanding professional achievements by a graduate of the LMU Veterinary Medical Technology program. Eligible recipients must have completed their degree more than ten years prior to nomination, allowing time to demonstrate significant impact in their field. Recipients may be recognized for their contributions in education, government, industry, clinical practice, or other professional endeavors within the scope of veterinary medicine. Established in 2024 by the administration of the Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine, the award is named after Dr. Randy Evans who served as the program director from 1989-2009.
