Return to Normal Operations
Lincoln Memorial University will return to normal operations tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and will operate on a regular schedule at all locations, including J. Frank White Academy.
While conditions across the region continue to improve, the University cannot monitor every roadway or local condition at all times in each location. Students, faculty, and staff are asked to use their personal judgment regarding travel and safety based on conditions in their immediate area. Safety remains our top priority, and individuals should take appropriate precautions as needed.

Admissions Requirements

There are three potential pathways of entry into the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at LMU with admission requirements listed below. Please note that the GRE is NOT required for admission via any pathway. Please contact us at DPTKnoxville@LMUnet.edu with any questions or concerns regarding prerequisites or admission criteria.

 

Prerequisite Courses

**Courses must be completed within 7 years of anticipated matriculation**

GENERAL BIOLOGY (8 CREDIT HOURS MINIMUM)  

CHEMISTRY W/ LABS (GENERAL CHEMISTRY I AND II; 8 CREDIT HOURS)  

  • Biochemistry w/ labs (Biochemistry I and II; 8 semester hours minimum) will also be accepted

PHYSICS W/ LABS (PHYSICS I AND II; 8 CREDIT HOURS MINIMUM)  

HUMAN ANATOMY W/ LAB (4 CREDIT HOURS)  

HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY W/ LAB (4 CREDIT HOURS)  

  • A combined two-course sequence in anatomy and physiology w/ lab (8 semester hours total) will also be accepted

PSYCHOLOGY (2 COURSES TOTALING 6 CREDIT HOURS)  

  • General or Introduction to Psychology, AND one of the following;  
  • Abnormal Psychology  
  • Developmental or Lifespan Psychology  

STATISTICS OR MATHEMATICS (3 CREDIT HOURS)  

  • One college-level statistics course is required  
  • Courses taken within the biology, mathematics, or psychology departments will be accepted  

 

 MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY (2-3 CREDIT HOURS) - RECOMMENDED

 

Dual Enrollment Coursework (from an accredited institution of higher learning) completed during High School WILL be accepted towards the pre-requisites and said grade recieved will be counted towards the pre-requisite GPA.   

Advanced Placement Coursework completed during High School will count towards  pre-requisite credits; however, grades received in these courses WILL NOT count towards the pre-requisite GPA.
