Nursing Education

The Nursing Education concentration at Lincoln Memorial University's Caylor School of Nursing prepares registered nurses to become effective educators and leaders in academic and clinical settings, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to educate the next generation of nursing professionals.

Designed for nurses seeking to advance their careers in nursing education, the program combines advanced teaching methodologies, curriculum development and practical experience to prepare graduates for roles in nursing education. The curriculum is aligned with the National League for Nursing (NLN) Nurse Educator Core Competencies, emphasizing the instructional and leadership skills needed to support student learning and professional development.

The 36-credit-hour program is offered completely online, with options to complete the program in four semesters of full-time study or seven semesters of part-time study, providing flexibility for working nurses.

Through 360 clinical practicum hours across two specialized courses, students gain hands-on experience in the nurse educator role, applying their knowledge in real-world educational and clinical environments.

The Nursing Education concentration supports LMU's commitment to addressing the growing need for qualified nursing faculty and strengthening the health care workforce, particularly in rural and underserved communities. By preparing experienced nurses to transition into teaching and leadership roles, the program helps support the education and development of future generations of nurses.
