Inclement Weather Operational Update

Due to extremely low temperatures, standing water on roadways, and the potential for icy conditions, Lincoln Memorial University will continue to deliver all classes online on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, for locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia.

All classes at affected locations will remain fully online through Tuesday. Students should monitor Canvas for all course assignments, instructional materials, and faculty guidance.

For LMU locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia, University offices will open at 10:00 am tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Employees should use caution when traveling, and supervisors are encouraged to exercise appropriate flexibility based on local conditions.

This update includes all affected academic and administrative sites, including J. Frank White Academy.

Florida campus locations are excluded from this update and will continue to operate on a normal instructional and operational schedule.

University leadership, facilities, safety, and emergency management teams will continue to monitor temperatures, road conditions, and evolving weather impacts. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains the highest priority, and decisions will continue to be made thoughtfully based on local conditions.

Please continue to monitor official University communication channels, including University email and website updates, for any additional information or schedule changes.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to manage these conditions safely and responsibly.

Clinical Experiences

Initial Teacher Licensure Programs, Graduate and Undergraduate

Teaching
After completing required undergraduate and teaching content/method courses, candidates seeking teacher licensure through the Lincoln Memorial University Initial Teacher Licensure programs complete clinical experiences through student teaching and job-embedded pathways.

The candidate's clinical practice replicates the experience of being a teacher while the job-embedded teacher is a licensed college graduate earning licensure while working in the classroom setting. Each LMU student utilizes the support and feedback within their corresponding placement: cooperating teachers for student teachers, and mentors for our job-embedded teachers. These professionals fulfill the mentoring role as they give formative and summative feedback to our candidates so they can minimize and/or correct weaknesses. Candidates hone knowledge, skills, and dispositions in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating lessons at the K-12 clinical experience sites.

In compliance with Tennessee Department of Education licensure requirements, all clinical experiences must take place in approved Tennessee schools under the supervision of appropriately licensed Tennessee teachers.

Graduate Programs in Counseling, Instructional Practice, Leadership, Executive Leadership, and Instructional Leadership

Clinical experiences are incorporated into the curriculum using cohorts to provide a way for practitioners to share tips and best practices, ask questions of their colleagues, and provide support for each other. It is through the process of sharing information and experiences with the group that the members learn from each other and have opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally in their workplace.
