Overview 
Dr. Kimberly Carney grew up in Southwest Georgia and earned her BS in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. After more than a decade as a mixed-animal practice owner in East Tennessee, she worked in Bolivia on international education and community health initiatives before joining Lincoln Memorial University in 2018. Over her career, she has served in multiple academic leadership roles, including Program Manager for the Center for Animal and Human Health in Appalachia, Associate Dean of Student Affairs & Admissions, and now as the Founding Dean of the Lincoln Memorial University–College of Veterinary Medicine at Orange Park. A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and Certified Health Education Specialist, Dr. Carney’s research interests have evolved from antimicrobial resistance and public health to higher education administration, faculty development, and the veterinary workforce. She is passionate about building programs, people, and partnerships that strengthen both the profession and the communities it serves. 

Role at OPCVM 
Dean Carney provides strategic leadership for the College of Veterinary Medicine at OPCVM, guiding its vision, priorities, and academic direction. She oversees curriculum development, faculty and student success, accreditation compliance, and resource management while fostering collaboration and promoting the college’s mission within the university and broader community. 

Research Focus 
Her research spans from antimicrobial resistance in laboratory settings to student affairs and veterinary workforce development, reflecting a broad commitment to advancing both science and education.
