PhD Curriculum

Students seeking the PhD in Clinical Anatomy should have completed an undergraduate or terminal master's degree in anatomy, anatomical sciences, biomedical sciences, biology, or a related field. The PhD degree is a minimum 60-credit hour degree. A minimum of 12 hours is devoted to dissertation work. Preliminary/qualifying examinations will be taken during the summer between the second and third years of the program.

 

PRE-REQUISITE COURSES:

Required:

  1. Medical Gross Anatomy
  2. Medical Neuroanatomy
  3. Medical Histology

 

Recommended:

ADVANCED ANATOMICAL DISSECTION (if the anatomy course was lacking a dissection component)

 

Applicants who have not taken these courses will need to enroll in them at LMU-DCOM during the first year of coursework. A suggested curricular plan is presented below.

Cross-sectional Anatomy - 3 hours

Anatomy Teaching Practicum (MGA) - 7 hours
Anatomy Teaching Practicum (Undergraduate Anatomy) - 4.5 hours

SPRING [9 HOURS]
Neuroanatomy Teaching Practicum - 3 hours
Histology Teaching Practicum - 3 hours
Anatomy Dissection Teaching Practicum - 3 hours
