Accessing Library Resources

If you are already an appointed clinical faculty member, but do not have access to library resources, please contact Nancy Myers at nancy.myers@lmunet.edu.

To access most library resources, the username is firstname.lastname, and the password is the one supplied to you via email and/or postal mail. If your first and last names match those of an existing person within our system, your username will be modified and have numbers at the end (e.g. firstname.lastname7). If you have lost your password, please contact Nancy Myers at nancy.myers@lmunet.edu.<

To access Epocrates Rx and Medscape Reference (formerly eMedicine), you will need to register and create your own username and password.

Borrowing Materials

Borrowing Books from the Library
Books and other circulating items in the Reed Medical and Allied Health Library collections may be checked out and mailed to appointed clinical adjunct faculty. Length of borrowing period will depend on the item type, i.e. book, video, etc.

Interlibrary Loans
The library will borrow books and materials from other libraries at no charge to appointed clinical adjunct faculty. Use the "Interlibrary Loan" link on the Library's website to request an interlibrary loan. You may also request the item from within a database by clicking "Request via Interlibrary Loan" upon determining that LMU does not have the item after clicking on "Find It @Carnegie-Vincent Library" or "Reed Medical and Allied Health Library" within a database. One must register and create a username and password in ILLiad to be able to place interlibrary loan requests.

Physicians who are not appointed clinical adjunct faculty members may submit interlibrary loan requests via LoanSome Doc; click here for information on costs and instructions for use.

Full-Text Journal Articles

Clinical adjunct faculty can click on "Full-Text Journals" on the library homepage and search the portal to determine if LMU-DCOM has full-text access to a journal. A video tutorial on how to use this tool is available here.

When searching a database, if the article you want is not available in full-text, it may be available in another database or in the Library's print collection. Library staff will scan articles from print journals and send them to appointed clinical adjunct faculty for free. To see if an article is available in full-text from within a database, click on "Find It @Carnegie-Vincent Library" or "Reed Medical and Allied Health Library" within the entry for the article. To see the library button within an article entry in PubMed or another database, one must use a link to the database from an LMU library website. If the message "Sorry, no holdings were found for this journal" appears, you may request the item by clicking on the "Request via Interlibrary Loan" link on the same page. Appointed clinical adjunct faculty may register and create a username and password in the ILLiad system to be able to freely place interlibrary loan requests.

Physicians who are not appointed clinical adjunct faculty members may submit interlibrary loan requests via LoanSome Doc. Click here for information on costs and instructions for use.
