The Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) is a graduate program designed for veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians who aspire to teach in veterinary and veterinary technology education. Grounded in LMU's core values of Values, Education, and Service, the program helps transform skilled veterinary practitioners and veterinary technicians into impactful educators.
The MVEd program equips veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians with the tools to:
Become effective educators in veterinary and veterinary technology programs
Understand the moral, social, and political factors influencing veterinary education
Support diverse student populations in classroom, clinical, simulation, and community settings
Translate clinical expertise into effective teaching strategies and learning outcomes

Prepare to teach in both veterinary and veterinary technology education, including colleges of veterinary medicine, veterinary technology programs, industry education, and continuing professional education.
This program is ideal for veterinary professionals who want to combine their clinical knowledge with a passion for teaching and mentorship in the veterinary field.
The MVEd program is 100% online and flexible. It is designed with working professionals in mind, and students can elect to be enrolled part-time or full-time. The degree is accomplished in 32 credit hours, with full-time enrollment of a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester. If a student remains enrolled full-time, the program can be completed in two years, or three to four years with part-time (less than 9 credit hours) enrollment.
Students and interested applicants are advised to review the Graduate Program Catalog for a full list of core requirements and electives. It is the student's ultimate responsibility to ensure all requirements for graduation are met. Please note that course offerings are subject to change.
For a Fall 2027 start, applications are due by July 16, 2027. Applications must be complete and verified by the due date to be considered. The admissions committee will review applications completed and verified by the deadline in July 2027. Decision letters will be delivered via email no later than August 1. If August 1 falls on a weekend, the notification is moved to the following Monday.
For a Spring 2027 start, applications open August 15, 2026, and are due by October 16, 2026. Applications must be complete and verified by the due date in order to be considered. The admissions committee will review applications completed and verified by the deadline in early November 2026. Decision letters will be delivered via email no later than December 1, 2026.
Only complete and verified applications will be reviewed.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to monitor the status of their PostbacCAS application and ensure delivery of all application materials by the deadline for their desired start date. A complete application has all letters of recommendation, transcripts, and essays received through PostbacCAS. Applications that are incomplete or unverified will not be evaluated for admission.
All materials should be submitted through PostbacCAS. The Office of CVM Admissions is not responsible for transcripts, letters, or essays that were submitted outside the PostbacCAS system. Sending materials outside of PostbacCAS may delay or prevent the evaluation of an application.

To secure a seat in the MVEd program, accepted applicants must submit a non-refundable $250 seat deposit. Deposits may be paid via the accepted applicant's MyLMU account. The seat deposit will be applied towards the cost of tuition.
Applicants to the MVEd program who have completed coursework at an institution external to the United States must complete the standard application procedure outlined above. All data included in the application (essays, demographic information, reference letters, CVs, etc.) must be written in English.
Any transcripts from institutions located outside of the United States must be evaluated by either the World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silney & Associates, Inc. Transcripts and evaluations should be submitted as normal through PostbacCAS.
If English is not the applicant's native language, the applicant must submit one of the following test scores via an official report sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to PostbacCAS.
- iBT (Internet-based TOEFL): minimum score of 61.
- CBT (Computer-based TOEFL): minimum score of 173.
- PBT (Paper-based TOEFL): minimum score of 500.
TOEFL scores older than 2 years will not be accepted.
*Applicants who earned a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) from an American or English-speaking institution are not required to take the TOEFL.
