Portions of this total living allowance are distributed as a direct deposit into members’ personal banking account twice a month during their term of service for them to use as they need. **Living allowance amounts will be added to this application soon. Members also receive money for school or student loans (called an ed award as mentioned above) when they successfully complete their term of service and total service hours. **Education award amounts will be added to this application soon. There will be some additional AmeriCorps functions held during your term of service, but outside of your weekly AmeriCorps schedule. All AmeriCorps members should plan to participate, especially in the mandatory events.

Even if you are unsure whether you would like to apply; or, maybe you just have some questions first, please feel free to email Rachel Davis directly at rdavis@emeraldyouth.org, Subject: "Fall AmeriCorps Inquiry". I realize some of this information may be a bit confusing and therefore we would like to do what we can to help you better understand all that the positions entail. NOTE: If you are unable to apply for our summer positions, but would like to consider our fall 2018 AmeriCorps positions, please email Kayleen directly at kweaver@emeraldyouth.org, Subject: "Fall 2018 AmeriCorps Interest". We will be sure to send you a notification later in the spring of 2018 when the application process for fall begins. In a nutshell, what is Emerald Youth? Just a bit more background on who we are...Emerald Youth Foundation is a Christian urban youth leadership development ministry in Knoxville, TN. We aim to reconnect urban young people to home, school, church, and their communities, creating effective leaders who will transform Knoxville from the inside out. The ministry began as a vision of the Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church in 1988 and was established as a non-profit organization in 1991. The "reconnection" mentioned above is done through two ministries developed by Emerald Youth Foundation – JustLead and Emerald Youth Sports. JustLead is an urban, church-based youth and young adult leadership development program. Emerald Youth Sports is a program providing fun and wellness, skills and competitive athletics. I encourage you to view some of our YouTube videos at emeraldyouth.org. Through Emerald Youth's ministries, urban young people and their families become an integral part of the congregation and are provided fun and meaningful relational growth experiences through the following outcomes areas: faith, learning, and health. AmeriCorps members with Emerald Youth serve primarily in JustLead with a focus on learning and health. AmeriCorps and religious activities. AmeriCorps is a federally funded program; therefore, members are not allowed to accrue hours for any faith/spiritual/religious activities. (If you would like to participate in these activities, you would have to do so voluntarily).
