Award Completion

Once your financial aid award package is processed, you will receive a notification to your LMU email account. You can view and accept your financial aid award package via "WebAdvisor for Students" in your MyLMU account. Students who want to borrow a reduced amount in student loans would need to complete a Loan Request Form and return it to the Office of Student Financial Services. After accepting Federal Direct Student Loans, there are additional requirements you must complete. Those requirements are detailed below. Failure to complete the required steps will delay disbursal of financial aid funds.

Note: All Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans are offered to students at an "estimated" status on the award package. Financial Aid with an "estimated" status cannot be accepted or declined on your award letter. The Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan is only changed to an "accepted" status once all of the steps below have been completed.

 

Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan Requirements

  •   Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
    Go to studentaid.gov and click the "Log In" link and use your FSA ID and password to log in. Once logged in, click on the "Complete Aid Process" tab and then select "Complete Entrance Counseling" to begin the process.
  •   Master Promissory Note (MPN)
    Go to studentaid.gov and click the "Log In" link and use your FSA ID and password to log in. Once logged in, click on the "Complete Aid Process" tab and then select "MPN for Undergraduates." Next, select "Start" and proceed.
  •   Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment
    Beginning April 2022, borrowers must complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment at studentaid.gov. This step must be completed each academic year that a loan is borrowed. Log in at studentaid.gov with your FSA ID and password and then click on "Complete Aid Process." Next, select "Complete Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment."

NOTE: LMU must receive confirmation that all steps have been completed before loans can be included in a payment plan or before the loans will disburse to your student account. Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan Requirements

  •   Application
    The parent must go to studentaid.gov and click the "Log In" link and use their FSA ID and password to log in. If the parent does not have an account, one can be created by selecting "Create Account." Once logged in, click the "Apply for Aid" tab. Select "Apply for a Parent PLUS Loan" in order to begin the application and credit check process. This step must be completed each academic year that a loan is borrowed.
  •   Master Promissory Note (MPN)
    After applying for the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan, the parent will need to sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN) at studentaid.gov by clicking on the "Complete Aid Process" tab and then choosing "MPN for Parents." Next, select the "Start" and proceed.
  •   Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment
    Beginning April 2022, borrowers must complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment at studentaid.gov. This step must be completed each academic year that a loan is borrowed.   •   Parent PLUS Loan Form
    In order for the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan to be set up on a student's account, the Parent PLUS Loan Form must be completed and returned to the Office of Student Financial Services.
