DMS New Grad Pathway

General Medicine (GM) Cognate

The General Medicine Cognate is designed exclusively for new PAs who have graduated within the past nine (9) months from an ARC-PA accredited program and are seeking to advance their medical knowledge while earning a Doctor of Medical Science degree. The innovative case-based curriculum brings clinically focused students from across the country together for an online interactive advanced medical training led by board-certified physicians who are experts in their field. The goal of the DMS degree program is to have a positive impact on health care in underserved regions by preparing PAs with advanced medical skills and knowledge base.

Our curriculum advances the students' medical knowledge through scenario-based collaboration, problem-solving, and diagnostic activities. Anatomy, pharmacology, and radiology, appropriate to the topic, are integrated into each of the 5-week subspeciality courses. GM Cognate Subspecialty Courses Include Neurology; Psychiatry; Pulmonology; Nephrology; Cardiology; Endocrinology; Rheumatology; Gastroenterology; Infectious Disease. Also included in the GM curriculum is 45 hours of ultrasound training taught by a board-certified radiologist and a scholarly project.
