Our history goes back to 2022, when the Lincoln Memorial University School of Engineering was founded to extend LMU’s student‑centered approach into Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with a focus on preparing job‑ready engineers. The first Civil Engineering cohort started in Fall 2022, followed by the first Mechanical Engineering cohort in Fall 2023. The program is young but built on strong fundamentals, hands‑on learning, and close faculty mentorship.
The engineering community is based in the Schenck Building, which includes faculty and staff offices, a computer lab, 3D printing rooms, and collaborative study spaces. In 2025, the School added new laboratory space in the Honeycutt Laws Operations Building, expanding facilities for materials testing, geotechnical, structural, and water resources work, along with additional student workspace.
LMU plans to begin the ABET accreditation application process in 2026, once official transcripts from the first graduating students are available.
