Dean's Message

Dean Overton

Ryan Overton, PhD, PE
Dean, School of Engineering

Over the past 20 years, Lincoln Memorial University has seen tremendous growth on the main campus in Harrogate, TN and beyond, and our professional and pre-professional programs have established LMU as a leader in educational instruction and innovation. I am happy to announce the progress will continue with the creation of the new School of Engineering at LMU.

As founding Dean, I am honored to extend our tradition of offering high-quality education to the fields of engineering, technology, and computing. The School of Engineering provides the very best to our students—and we mean the best. Because of our emphasis on individual instruction and student-centered learning, students pursuing a degree in civil or mechanical engineering receive the highest quality teaching, leadership opportunities, and career preparation in the region. At LMU, students are more than a number. Our future engineers receive one-on-one advising by faculty within their fields of study to ensure success in both college and career. And we know this approach is working—student surveys tell us that the availability of faculty outside of regularly scheduled classes is one of the largest and most impactful reasons students choose to study at LMU. It truly is a personalized education at LMU.

As engineers, we appreciate both the hard work and immense satisfaction of building something from the ground up, of seeing our designs come to life. Enrolling in this program allows you to be a part of the inaugural group of students who will help grow the program as you expand your career opportunities. In the LMU School of Engineering, you will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish the culture and set the direction for thousands of future engineering students.

If you are interested in engineering or have questions, I would love to further discuss our programs and your future. I look forward to listening to your aspirations and formulating a plan to set you on a path to a truly rewarding career in engineering.

Thanks,

Ryan Overton
