The admission requirements for the Master of Education degree are a two-step process.
Initial Program Admittance (Level 1) for Curriculum and Instruction (CI) and Educational Leadership (EL) majors:
- Complete and submit program application by the deadline – use the online Graduate Application by clicking the “Apply” button found at the top of the page.
- Submit $50 non-refundable application fee
- Request 1 official transcript for your Bachelor Degree
- Request 1 official transcript for any coursework beyond your Bachelor Degree
- Submit all transcripts to:

Level 2 Program Admittance (Before completion of 9 Credit Hours):
- Application for Degree Candidacy
- Three Recommendation Forms
- Director-Approved Program of Study
- Acknowledgement of Receipt of Guidelines
Initial Program Admittance (Level 1) for Instructional Leadership (IL) majors:
- Pre-Admissions Packet – these requirements/documents will be provided to you upon submission of your online application.
- Instructional Leadership Admission Portfolio - once the Pre-Admissions Packet and documentation is received, applicants will be provided with the requirements and directions needed to complete the portfolio.
- Instructional Leadership DAP Interview – an interview will be conducted for every candidate, upon evaluation and approval of Candidate Portfolio.
Level 2 Program Admittance (Before completion of 9 Credit Hours):
- Director-Approved Program of Study – (will be provided at registration)
- Acknowledgement of Receipt of Guidelines – (will be provided at registration)
- School Leadership Licensure Assessment (SLLA) - leadership licensure candidates must also pass this exam as a graduation requirement.
- IL Candidates who hold a special group license are required to take the PLT in order to earn IL Licensure. See http://www.ets.org/praxis
Exit Requirements:
- Successful completion of all course requirements
- Intent to Graduate Form
- Graduation Fee
- CI and EL majors only - Comprehensive Examination - see graduate catalog for examination information.
IL majors only - School Leadership Licensure Assessment (SLLA)/Exit Interview/Completion of 100 practicum hours with a licensed TN administrator
