Undergraduate Majors

The School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is home to some of LMU's most diverse and historical majors in the fields of Communication and Fine Arts, Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Social Work.

LMU's Master of Public Administration Program (MPA), Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ), and Master of Science in Psychology (MSP)
These graduate programs are all offered as fully online graduate programs.

Accelerated Path to Graduate Work in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS)

If you are a current LMU undergraduate student and you are interested in pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, and Psychology, and you want an accelerated path, please see our Advance to Master's Program (AMP), available for the MPA, MSCJ, MSP, and MBA (School of Business).  AMP is available for those who qualify.

In addition to liberal arts degree programs, minors, and graduate programs the Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is home to Arts in the GapMusic at LMU, Theatre program, and Pre-Law Majors.  A number of student clubs also have their homes with the School, including lmuart, the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta, the LMU Players, SHARE club (Social Work), the Psychology Club, and the Alpha Beta Epsilon Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association.

Arts in the Gap

Arts in the Gap is based in Cumberland Gap, offering workshops in various art forms while also embracing Appalachian history. Supported by Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, it brings together regional artists, educators, and participants of all ages to explore and engage with the arts. Samuel Kennedy Kennedy Honored as Inaugural Recipient of Above and Beyond Social Work Award May 9, 2025

Samuel Kennedy, a junior social work major at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU), has been named the first recipient of the Above and Beyond Award, recognizing his contributions to the Social Work program. The award was presented during the Social Work Month Luncheon in March, where alumna Elora Prichard, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Director of Client Services at Central Services in Morristown, Tennessee, served as keynote speaker.

LMU Honors Scholars LMU Honor Scholars Provide Aid to North Carolina Community Following Hurricane Helene April 16, 2025

The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Honors Scholars Program had finalized plans for the cultural excursion to Asheville just days before Hurricane Helene struck. However, after the storm devastated communities across Western North Carolina, the students knew they had to help. The group searched for an organization to aid in their efforts and voted to partner with the Community Housing Coalition (CHC) of Madison County. This nonprofit organization assists local homeowners in need of emergency home repairs. CHC coordinates volunteer groups with homeowners based on construction skill levels and other factors.

Summer 2024 Workshop Arts in the Gap to Host Record-Breaking Summer Workshop Series March 31, 2025

Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) Arts in the Gap (AITG) program will host a record 37 events and workshops this summer, expanding artistic opportunities for the community. A grant from South Arts’ In These Mountains initiative has allowed the program to broaden its offerings, particularly in Appalachian arts-focused workshops.
