Overview 

Dr. Neil Vezeau is dedicated to advancing the One Health workforce across organized veterinary medicine, education, and scholarship. He currently serves as President‑Elect of the National Association of Federal Veterinarians, where he collaborates across societal sectors to strengthen the veterinary public health labor force. His global engagement includes work with the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Committee on International Veterinary Affairs and ongoing collaborations with intergovernmental and international organizations such as the World Health Organization, the World Organisation for Animal Health, and the World Veterinary Association. His scholarly interests center on antimicrobial resistance, policy, and One Health training pipelines, and he frequently leads teams of international partners in these efforts. 

Dr. Vezeau completed his DVM/MPH at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa in 2021. He previously served as founding president of the International Student One Health Alliance, building One Health capacity among youth worldwide. Before transitioning fully into One Health–focused leadership and scholarship, he worked at the wildlife–human interface in Hawaii as a food safety veterinarian with the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. 

Role at OPCVM 

Dr. Neil Vezeau serves as Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and One Health at OPCVM, where he delivers pre‑clinical and clinical instruction in epidemiology, One Health, and evidence‑based veterinary medicine, helping students build critical skills in data‑driven reasoning, public health awareness, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Vezeau also contributes to the college’s academic mission through ongoing research and scholarly activity, and he engages in professional and community service that advances the One Health workforce and strengthens the broader veterinary public health infrastructure.
