Overview
Dr. Hasan Tarik Atmaca is a veterinary pathologist with extensive experience in comparative and experimental pathology, integrating diagnostic histopathology, mechanism‑based disease investigation, and innovative approaches to veterinary medical education. He has led and contributed to diverse in vivo disease models across multiple species and combines histopathology with molecular pathology and immunology to link cellular mechanisms with clinically relevant outcomes. In parallel, he develops technology‑enhanced teaching tools, such as WebAR/3D pathology learning resources and virtual necropsy modules, to strengthen students’ diagnostic reasoning and bridge classroom learning with real‑world clinical application.
Role at OPCVM
Dr. Atmaca serves as Associate Professor of Pathology at OPCVM, where he provides pre‑clinical and clinical instruction in veterinary pathology, fostering students’ development in diagnostic reasoning, mechanism‑based disease investigation, and evidence‑informed clinical decision‑making. He is focused on strengthening diagnostic reasoning through case-based instruction, hands-on pathology teaching, and technology-enhanced learning.
Research Focus
Dr. Atmaca integrates histopathology, molecular pathology, immunology, and in vivo disease modeling to investigate host–pathogen interactions, neuroinflammation, metabolic tissue injury, and infectious disease pathogenesis, with particular experience in Toxoplasma gondii and comparative immune responses across species.
