Harrogate, Tennessee, March 3, 2017—The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum (ALLM) at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will host the Mary Lincoln program “Taking Leave” on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the Arnold Auditorium at ALLM.
“Taking Leave” features President Abraham Lincoln’s wife Mary and her last moments in the executive mansion after the 16th President’s assassination. The play takes place in the summer of 1865 and showcases the raw emotions Mary Lincoln experiences as she relives both happy and sad memories prior to her departure, including moments in her relationship with her husband and the births and deaths of their children. The story is written by Ken Bradbury and performed by Pam Brown of Springfield, Illinois.
A reception at the ALLM will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the play will follow at 7:00 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
