HARROGATE, Tennessee, January 25, 2019— The J. Frank White Academy (JFWA) Knights and Lady Knights basketball teams defeated teams from Concord Christian School in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Jan. 22. The Lady Knights remain undefeated with a 21-0 record. The Knights continue their impressive season with a record of 16-3.
In the most recent home games, the Lady Knights beat the Red Bird High School Cardinals 56-18, Jan. 14, and the Knights defeated Danville Christian Academy, of Kentucky, 51-65, on Jan. 19. They are set to be back at Mary Mars Gymnasium on Feb. 15, to take on Knoxville Christian School, for the final home game of the season.
The JFWA Lady Knights are one of five undefeated teams in the state of Tennessee. They have scored well over a thousand points in their first 21 games averaging 60 points per game. Their opponents have scored an average of 31 points per game.
“These ladies have really stuck with their team motto of ‘defend till the end’,” said Coach Dan Piercy.
Several Lady Knights have impressive statistics for the season. Sophomore Abigail Garner of Lafollette, Tennessee, is averaging 10 blocks per game and 15 points. Junior Kyla Piercy of New Tazewell, Tennessee, is leading in steals with 7 per game and 9 points per game. Sophomore Presley Cole of Maynardville, Tennessee, averages 14 points per game and three assists. Junior Anna Posey of Tazewell, Tennessee, and sophomore Kinsee Lefeveres of Tazewell, Tennessee, each average five points and four steals per game. Junior Beraya Piercy of New Tazewell, Tennessee, is averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists per game.
Leading in scoring for the Knights this season is, junior Jake Gross of Tazewell, Tennessee, averaging 15.2 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 steal, and 5.7 assists. Junior Jacob Yeary of Tazewell, Tennessee, averages 12.2 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.9 assists. Sophomore Tanner Brush, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, averages 9.7 points per game, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Junior Houston Hatfield of Tazewell, Tennessee, averages 16.3 points per game, 10.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.3 assists. Freshman Blake Stoner of Middlesboro, Kentucky, averages 3.5 points per game and 2.6 rebounds, while sophomore Patrick Moore averages 3.8 points per game and 2.4 rebounds.
