LMU Inducts 18 Into Alpha Chi Honor Society

Harrogate, Tennessee, May 22, 2018— Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) inducted 18 new members into the Tennessee Epsilon 82 chapter of Alpha Chi on May 4, 2018, during a ceremony at the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center in Duke Hall of Citizenship. 

Founded in 1922, Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society with the purpose of promoting academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of junior, senior and graduate classes. 

LMU Assistant Professor of Music and Alpha Chi sponsor Dr. James McAllister presided over the ceremony, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Amiel Jarstfer gave the keynote address. 

Undergraduate students inducted included Maika Atwell of Ceres, Virginia; Desirae Clark of Roan Mountain, Tennessee; Jessica Gibson of Speedwell, Tennessee: Ariana Greer of Middlesboro, Kentucky; Alisha Helton of Evarts, Kentucky; Miranda Morrow of Harrison, Tennessee; Molly Ramsey of Sneedville, Tennessee; Laurel Tipps of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Timothy Taylor of LaFollettee, Tennessee. 

Graduate students inducted included Tyler Carter of Barbourville, Kentucky; Payton Draheim of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee; Brendan Kelley of Knoxville, Tennessee; Parisa Khosravi Cumberland Gap, Tennessee; Emily Lebeau of Ewing, Virginia; Lauren Morris of Maryville, Tennessee; Christine Nwoke of Marietta, Georgia; Taylor Peters of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Jessica Whitmill of Morristown, Tennessee. 

The objectives of Alpha Chi are to promote and to recognize superior scholarship and those elements of character that make scholarship effective for service. The society has more than 300 chapters across the country. Membership is the highest academic honor on campus.
