LMU-CVM Selected to Host International Veterinary Simulation in Teaching Conference in Knoxville

InVeST Conference 2018

Harrogate, Tennessee, January 4, 2018 – Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) has been selected to host the Sixth Annual International Veterinary Simulation in Teaching (InVeST) Conference October 17-19, 2018, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The conference is being organized by LMU-CVM and the Center for Innovation in Veterinary Education and Technology (CIVET) at LMU.

The conference, which draws veterinary professionals, researchers and innovators from all around the world, will meet in downtown Knoxville at the LMU Duncan School of Law and attendees and their families are invited to explore the City of Knoxville. During one of the conference days, attendees will travel to Ewing, Virginia, to visit the LMU-CVM DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center (DVTC). The DVTC houses state-of-the-art teaching spaces including a large clinical skills laboratory, equine stable, equine teaching center, and bovine teaching center. The program is supported by a model-building laboratory on site. This facility also has a large lecture hall and smaller spaces for workshops. Attendees will tour the facilities, participate in clinical skills workshops and interact with an international team of simulation educators.

“Being selected to host this international conference is a huge honor,” said LMU-CVM Dean Jason Johnson. “This is an incredible opportunity to demonstrate the innovative modeling and simulation techniques being implemented in our curriculum at LMU as well as to showcase the beauty of our Appalachian region to visitors from around the world.”

InVeST is an informal group started in August 2011, following a very successful Veterinary Simulation Exchange symposium hosted by the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. This conference has provided an international forum for learning and networking between researchers, developers and educational institutions on the rapidly growing use of simulation in veterinary education while encouraging research regarding its use and effectiveness. The number of attendees and countries they represent has grown significantly.

The 2018 conference will continue in the tradition of successful conferences, previously held at Colorado State University in the USA, Calgary University in Canada, Ross University in the West Indies, Hanover University in Germany and The University of Pretoria in South Africa. The InVeST 2018 conference will provide an excellent opportunity to engage with an extensive network of experts to form new partnerships and share knowledge as well as the latest research in veterinary simulation.

Sponsorships are available to national companies related to veterinary medicine or simulation as well as to Knoxville area businesses looking to promote their business to an international audience. For more information on the InVeST conference contact
