Les Frères Méduses to perform at LMU

Harrogate, Tennessee, April 13, 2017—The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences will host the well-known guitar duo Les Frères Méduses on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. The performance will take place in the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center in the Duke Hall of Citizenship on the LMU main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee. The concert is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Les Frères Méduses consists of two guitar players, Benoit Albert and Randall Avers. The duo began their collaboration in 1999 as students at the Paris Conservatory in Paris, France. They reformed in 2008 under the pseudonym of “Les Frères Méduses” and have been performing classical and folk music ever since.

Past performance locations for the pair include Guitar Foundation of America Festival, Chicago Guitar Festival, Austin Classical Guitar International Series, Texas Chamber Music Festival, LMU Guitar Festival, String Theory at Hunter Museum, Oberlin Conservatory, Nashville Virtuoso Showcase, String Festival and Outreach Series. Their European performances include the Plovdiv Festival, Festival de Joué lès Tours, Stavanger Konserthus, Støperiet, Toulouse (St. Pierre des Cuisines), Agen (Théâtre Ducourneau), le Conservatoire de Rennes, le Conservatoire de Narbonne and Norges Musikkhøyskole.  

Albert and Avers have written several pieces for the concert stage and silent film concerts. They produced two separate cinema-concert music scores to accompany existing silent films: The Unknown (1927) directed by Tod Browning and Mekanisk (1897-1905) directed by Georges Melies. Their debut recording “Modern Guitar Duets" is featured on the ClearNote Publications Label and musical scores.

The concert is free and open to the public.
