Nordic Fiddlers Bloc to Perform in Cumberland Gap
HARROGATE, Tennessee, March 29, 2019— The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will present The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc Wednesday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Gap Convention Center in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. The program is free and open to the public.
The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc is a fiddle trio that masterfully blends the traditions of Norway, Sweden and the Shetland Islands. Olav Luksengård Mjelva (Norway), Anders Hall (Sweden) and Kevin Henderson (Shetland Islands) have a gripping and unique blend of fiddle music. The Bloc started in early 2009 and has release two albums: Deliverance (2016) and The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc (2011). They maintain a firm focus on the traditions of their home while developing a meaningful, intense and invigorating sound. The trio’s clever use of harmony, rhythm, riffs and bass lines creates a sound that leaves listeners enthralled. The group has toured in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland and across mainland Europe, captivating audiences along the way.
