LMU Moves Up in US News and World Report National Rankings, Recognized as Top Performer on Social Mobility List
In its second year in the U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Colleges” “National Universities” category, Lincoln Memorial University moved up 27 spots over its debut and is ranked No. 227 in the 2021 rankings.
The magazine’s 2021 edition, released on Monday, September 14, placed LMU among the best 303 schools in the top tier “National Universities” category.
LMU moved up 10 spots to No. 39 in the U.S. News and World Report social mobility ranking for “National Universities.” The ranking measures how successful a school is at enrolling and graduating undergraduate students who come from low-income households. LMU’s social mobility ranking is the highest in Tennessee including both public and private institutions.
“LMU was founded in 1897 for the very purpose of delivering educational opportunities to underserved and isolated populations in rural Appalachia,” said Dr. Clayton Hess, LMU president. “Nearly 125 years later, this ranking is a public acknowledgment of the investments LMU has made, and continues to make to ensure the success of all our undergraduate students.”
U.S. News and World Report also recognized LMU on two new lists:
- Student Debt Load at Graduation – Least Debt List
- Economic Diversity List
LMU has been recognized by student loan website LendEDU for graduating students with the least debt load in Tennessee and No. 68 in the country. A 2019 LendEDU study identified LMU as the fifth best risk-reward college in the state of Tennessee. Additionally, Money named LMU one of its Best Colleges in America, ranked by value.
