JFWA Boys Cross Country Team Finishes First at Home Meet

J. Frank White Academy (JFWA) of Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) hosted an invitational cross country meet September 12, featuring two middle schools and five high schools including JFWA, Oneida, Thomas Walker, Scott County, and Claiborne High School.

 

In the boys high school race, JFWA senior Justin Poland was the individual champion with a time of 21:21 on the 3.1-mile course (5K). Sophomore Daniel Gao placed second with a time of 22:02. Finishing out the JFWA team were senior Alan Luc (7th, 23:29), sophomore Caleb Carney (9th, 23:52), junior Adam Turley (11th, 24:40), senior Elijah Harrington (12th, 24:54), Blake Stoner (13th, 25:09), and freshman Samuel Tompkins (19th, 26:21).

 

The Academy placed seven runners in the top 13 and eight runners in the top 19. JFWA was the top boys team defeating Oneida High School, Claiborne High School, Scott High School, and Thomas Walker High School.

 

In the high school girls race, all four JFWA ladies finished in the top five with Lillian Turley taking the runner-up position with a time of 30:59. Anna Posey (32:17), Elizabeth Melton (32:57), and Ella Wynn (33:14) finished out the top five.

 

In the middle school race, Molly Wynn won the girls race and Cutchin Wynn and Weston Ball had top five finishes from JFWA.
