JFWA Friday Faculty Profile: Samantha Cash
HARROGATE, Tennessee, February 19, 2021— J. Frank White Academy (JFWA) second-grade teacher Samantha Cash is in her second year at the Academy.
I received my undergraduate degree and K-5 teaching license from Lincoln Memorial University. I also got my Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from LMU. Fun fact, I was in nursing before education and have my CNA, STNA, phlebotomy, and EKG license. I am also currently learning how to speak Spanish.
I love working with kids and watching them grow both in the classroom and as individuals. In 2nd grade, we focus heavily on growth mindset! I believe in teaching the whole child and fostering creativity through collaboration, divergent thinking and encouraging student interests.
My favorite teacher was Cindy Booth at CTC in High School. She made learning meaningful and really made connections with her students. She inspired me to not only be an educator, but to view the world differently.
Some interesting facts about me are that I grow new teeth every year (I think everyone may know that already). I played indoor and beach volleyball at LMU. My favorite vacation destination is any beach! I often tell my students I would live underwater if I could. My favorite book is Tuesdays with Morrie. My favorite hobby is working out and exploring nature. I asked my class what they thought my special talent was, and their answer was "you are a human that runs on Jesus Juice (aka my coffee).”
