LMU-DCOM Student Presents Medical Case at Appalachian Regional Healthcare Research Day

Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) was represented this month at the third annual Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) Research Day, a virtual event celebrating research accomplishments of the hospital’s residents, students, and faculty.   

LMU-DCOM Harrogate class of 2025 student doctor Christopher Gray, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, presented a complex medical case involving a patient with acute respiratory distress syndrome secondary to a rare Blastomycosis fungal infection.  

“I learned a lot about fungal pneumonia, presenting cases to the medical team (residents, attendings, and medical students), and improving my presentation skills,” Gray said. “My experience has been a great start to my aspirations of conducting research as a physician.” 

The clinical case abstract was submitted by the supervising residents to the prestigious American Thoracic Society International Conference in May 2024, San Diego California.  

His experience presenting research exemplifies LMU-DCOM’s commitment to fostering future generations of osteopathic physicians dedicated to serving the Appalachian region and beyond through impactful research and compassionate care.
