Dr. Matthew Schexnayder Joins LMU-CVM Faculty

Dr. Matthew Schexnayder

Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) welcomes Matthew Schexnayder, DVM, MS, as assistant professor of clinical pathology.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Schexnayder join our faculty,” said Dr. Stacy Anderson, Dean of LMU-CVM. “In the short time that he has been with us he has already fully demonstrated our core values of academic quality, innovation, positive culture, and student-centricity as he took over the Clinical Pathology course mid-semester in the midst of a pandemic. He has a passion for teaching that fits well with our educational model. We look forward to the positive change that he will bring to our program.”

Schexnayder received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University in 2016. He completed an internship year in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, Florida before returning to Louisiana State University for a combined clinical pathology residency and master’s program. He defended his thesis in 2019, earning a Master of Biomedical and Veterinary Medical Sciences and completed his residency in 2020. His research focused on novel routes of Rickettsia felis transmission.

“I view joining the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty here at Lincoln Memorial University as a great personal challenge and opportunity; a challenge to perform my best work each day and an opportunity to serve as a positive influence for our students,” said Schexnayder. “It is my sincerest wish that our students become successful in their chosen disciplines; if in some small way I am able to catalyze the reactions of their success, my time will have been well spent.”
