Kylie Watson, a second-year veterinary medicine student at Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) was appointed to the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) Board of Directors for 2021-22. Watson will serve as a liaison representing the Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA).
“We are excited to see Kylie representing SAVMA on the AAVMC board,” said LMU-CVM Dean Stacy Anderson. “This is an amazing opportunity for LMU-CVM students to impact veterinary education at a whole new level.”
Watson SAVMA junior delegate for LMU-CVM and the AAVMC student liaison for the Educational and Professional Development Committee within SAVMA. She serves in a variety of leadership including a position on the executive board for the local chapter of the Veterinary Business Management Association. She holds a research assistant position and is co-first author on a publication exploring telehealth and telemedicine in veterinary medicine.
Watson received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in 2014 and her Master of Science from Lincoln Memorial University in 2019. She plans to work in small animal medicine and has an interest in practice ownership. Born and raised in Maui, and hoping to one day return, her island upbringing has fostered a passion for the interdependencies within One Health, and she hopes to incorporate it into her future career as a veterinarian.
