Evans Earns Industry Gold-Standard Career Coaching Credential
Randall Evans, DVM, associate dean of career services and professional development, of Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine, recently completed the Certified Professional Career Coach program (CPCC), a certification of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches (PARW/CC) earning the CPCC credential, enhancing his professional expertise and contributions to the career coaching industry.
To earn the CPCC, Evans completed a comprehensive training and coaching program that provided solid tools for career management and job search coaching in today’s employment market and submitted a testing portfolio that included documented coaching hours. Obtaining the CPCC credential, Evans has demonstrated a high level of commitment and expertise to the career coaching profession.
“In the career services division at LMU-CVM our mission is to serve our alumni and students. Our clients also include veterinary practices, veterinary companies and public health employers,” said Evans. “Success is utilizing our skills and experiences to assist veterinary students in their journey through veterinary college and then to help coach them in the transition from student to graduate veterinarian. We further succeed by supporting our alumni in their quest for the ideal veterinary career and personal happiness.”
Evans is a native of Middlesboro, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky as an animal science major and is a 1987 graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. After a six-month preceptorship in Nashville, Tennessee, he returned to the area to work for his mentor, Dr. Edwin Robertson, at the Harrogate Hospital for Animals (HHA) and part-time in the LMU Veterinary Technology Program. In 1989, Evans joined LMU full-time as the director of the Veterinary Technology Program while still working part-time at HHA.
In 2003, Evans was named chair of the Allied Health Department and in 2007, he became the founding dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences. From 1994-2010, he served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2010, Evans began work on the establishment of LMU-CVM where he became the founding dean. In 2000, he was awarded the LMU Houston Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society, a member of the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Board of Trustees, and a Child Ministry worker at the Binghamtown Baptist Church in Middlesboro.
“I always tell people that through the years, I’ve had more titles at LMU than a ’67 Buick,” said Evans. “By far my role in career services helping our students realize their dreams and begin their careers as veterinarians, is one of my favorite.”
