Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has named Dr. Jake Simms assistant dean of the School of Business, expanding its academic leadership as the school continues to strengthen its programs and prepare students for success in an evolving business landscape.
Simms has contributed to those efforts through teaching, curriculum development, research and strategic planning. His new role will build on that experience, with a greater focus on advancing academic initiatives and supporting the school's long-term direction.
"We're building on a strong foundation at the School of Business, and the decisions we make today will shape the opportunities we create for our students in the years ahead," said Dr. Kelsey Metz, dean of the LMU-School of Business. "Dr. Simms has already contributed to our academic progress, and his expanded leadership role will help us continue moving forward with purpose."
From leadership development and student-athlete experiences to emerging trends in consumer behavior, Dr. Simms' research spans sport management, organizational leadership and business. His work has appeared in respected peer-reviewed journals, including Sport Management Review, Journal of Intercollegiate Sport and Quest.
With a Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Simms has also presented research at national conferences and collaborated on funded research projects. His interdisciplinary work includes examining virtual influencers and consumer perceptions, demonstrating the breadth of his scholarly interests.
"One of the strengths of the School of Business is the range of experience and expertise our faculty bring to the table," said Dr. Simms. "There's an opportunity to build on that foundation by supporting meaningful research, strengthening our academic programs and finding new ways to connect what students learn in the classroom to the challenges they'll encounter in their careers."
In his new role, Dr. Simms will work alongside faculty and School leadership to advance strategic initiatives, support research and strengthen academic programs, reinforcing LMU's commitment to preparing the next generation of business leaders.
