Students Take the Lead in Telling the LMU Story

LMU Creator Challenge

A late-night study session. Your favorite spot on campus. The excitement of game day. Friendships formed between classes.

Every student has a story to tell, and now Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is inviting them to share it with the world.

Beginning July 24, students can turn their everyday experiences into content through the inaugural LMU Creator Challenge, a 12-week competition that encourages participants to document life at LMU on Instagram and TikTok while competing for up to $1,000 in prize money.

At its heart, the challenge is about more than points or prizes. It gives students a platform to tell the LMU story in their own voices and help prospective students picture themselves as part of the University community.

While LMU can showcase programs, events, and achievements, students often provide the moments that resonate most. A video from a residence hall, a behind-the-scenes look at a clinical rotation, or a recap of a campus event can offer a genuine perspective that future students are actively seeking as they explore college options.

"Students tell the LMU story better than anyone else can," said Nikki Lockhart, Director of Public Relations & Social Media. "The experiences they share offer an authentic look at life on campus and help prospective students see themselves here. We wanted to create an opportunity that empowers students to share those moments while rewarding their creativity."

Throughout the competition, participants will receive creative prompts and complete content challenges highlighting different aspects of student life. Students earn points through content creation and will move up the leaderboard over the competition. The top ten students will receive cash prizes at the end of the challenge.

Regardless of their career path, students will enter a world where digital communication plays an important role in building connections, sharing expertise, and identifying new opportunities. Through the challenge, students will gain experience creating content, building an audience and navigating digital spaces with confidence.

"We hope students walk away with more than just prizes," said Dr. Jason McConnell, President of LMU. "We want them to become more comfortable sharing their ideas, recognizing opportunities and building a digital presence that can support their future goals. Those are skills that will benefit them long after graduation."

Registration is open now and will remain available throughout the 12-week challenge, so students may join at any time.

Whether they highlight academic achievements, campus traditions, friendships, organizations or everyday moments, participants will help build a fuller and more personal picture of life at Lincoln Memorial University.

After all, the best stories about LMU are the ones students are already living.
