College comes with enough challenges. Finding affordable textbooks, preparing for move-in day, and navigating major academic milestones should not be among them.
Through its partnership with Barnes & Noble College, Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is helping students and families reduce costs, save time, and enjoy a smoother college experience—from preparing for the first day of class to celebrating graduation.
The collaboration brings together a range of services around one shared goal: removing practical barriers so students can focus on learning, belonging, and succeeding at LMU.
One of the partnership's most significant impacts comes through LMU's Book Bundle program, which has saved students more than $1.3 million on course materials. The program has reduced textbook expenses by 47 percent, and 91 percent of participating students reported that it saved them both time and money.
That support begins even before students arrive on campus. This year, LMU and Barnes & Noble College introduced LMU Room Service, a new program designed to make move-in easier for residential students and their families.
Students were able to order bedding, blankets, storage solutions, room décor, LMU-branded merchandise, and other essentials for delivery directly to their residence hall rooms before move-in. The service reduced the need to transport bulky supplies and helped students arrive to a space that already felt more like home.
Once students are settled, the partnership continues to strengthen their connection to the LMU community. Through Club Colors, departments, programs, and student organizations can create custom apparel, event materials, promotional products, and online pop-up shops that make it easier for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to show their Railsplitter pride.
The same coordinated support carries through the milestones that define a student's academic journey. LMU's bookstore manages graduation regalia for commencement ceremonies across the university, coordinates distribution for students from LMU's campuses and online programs, and provides on-site assistance during the celebrations.
For students in professional programs, Barnes & Noble College also coordinates white coat fittings, ordering, and embroidery services for the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine, and the physician assistant program. By simplifying these details, the partnership allows students and their families to remain focused on the meaning of the moment and the achievement it represents.
From move-in day, when LMU Room Service delivers essentials directly to residence hall rooms, through graduation, when the bookstore provides the regalia students wear to cross the stage, Barnes & Noble College supports students throughout their LMU journey. By making each stage more affordable, convenient, and connected, the partnership helps students and families focus less on logistics and more on the experiences and achievements that define their time at LMU.
