Lincoln Memorial University–Caylor School of Nursing (LMU-CSON) proudly announces that Diane “Dee” McCroskey, Instructor of Nursing at LMU-CSON, has received the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who go above and beyond to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. Patients, families, and colleagues submit nominations to honor nurses who make a lasting impact during some of life’s most challenging moments.

McCroskey earned this recognition through a nomination that highlighted her commitment to both clinical excellence and genuine compassion. Her nominator shared, “When I was facing challenges and questioning whether I could continue in the program, she took the time to speak with me, encourage me, and remind me why I started. Because of her support and belief in me, I stayed. She is the reason I am still a student at LMU today.”

In addition to teaching future nurses, McCroskey continues to model the values LMU-CSON emphasizes every day. Over her 14 years at Lincoln Memorial University, she has made a lasting impact on students, patients, and the broader community. Her work demonstrates how strong clinical skills and empathy come together to improve patient outcomes and experiences.

“Dee represents the very best of what we aim to instill in our students,” said Dr. Tammy Dean, Dean of LMU-CSON. “Her dedication to compassionate care and commitment to excellence make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.”

As a DAISY Award recipient, McCroskey received a certificate, a DAISY Honoree pin, and a hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe. She also joined an international community of nurses recognized for their work and will be acknowledged through the DAISY Foundation.

This recognition reflects the impact LMU-CSON faculty have both in the classroom and in healthcare settings. By leading through service and compassion, they prepare the next generation of nurses to meet the needs of their communities with skill and purpose.
