Museum

The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum (ALLM) at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will host Liberty’s Path - America’s Path to 250, a free two-day event that will bring America’s history to life through living history camps, guest speakers, demonstrations and family-friendly activities. The event will take place May 17-18 and will highlight the nation’s journey from the Revolutionary War to the present day.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can explore living history camps featuring reenactors representing major periods of American conflict, from the Revolutionary War through modern military service. The event will also feature author Michael Hattem, whose book The Memory of '76: The Revolution in American History explores the lasting influence of the American Revolution. Speakers throughout the event will share perspectives on the nation’s past, including a representative of the Cherokee people and a group portraying Butler’s Rangers.

Demonstrators and a historic market will showcase traditional crafts such as basket weaving and wool spinning, while local food vendors will offer refreshments for attendees. A home-schooled student wax museum will feature historical figures from the Revolutionary and Early Republic eras, and students from local high schools will participate in an essay contest highlighting America’s history.

The event will also include moments honoring military service. A Military Honor Guard will present a “Salute to Veterans,” recognizing all veterans in attendance with a 21-gun salute. Members of the National Guard will also participate in the event, sharing insights into present-day military service and traditions.
