The Lincoln Memorial University-Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) will host its second annual Student Public Interest Fellowship (SPIF) Auction on March 26, 5 p.m. at LMU Law. Bridgett McMahan, ’15, president of the LMU Duncan School of Law Alumni Association, will serve as a speaker at the event.
The LMU Law Alumni Association is the title sponsor of the 2026 SPIF Auction. Formed in fall 2025, the Alumni Association focuses on strengthening connections among LMU Law graduates, expanding alumni engagement, hosting events, fostering professional networks and supporting current law students.
“The Student Public Interest Fellowship Auction reflects our commitment to ensuring students can pursue meaningful public service opportunities without financial barriers,” said Kasey Wasson, director of development. “Support from our alumni and community partners allows students to serve in roles that directly benefit individuals and communities in need.”
The SPIF Auction supports LMU Law students pursuing unpaid public interest internships, including placements in legal aid organizations, public defender and prosecutor offices, domestic violence advocacy programs, civil rights initiatives and other community-based legal services. Proceeds from event sponsorships and donations are used to fund student stipends.
The inaugural SPIF Auction raised nearly $20,000, which supported seven law students during summer internships at public defender and district attorney offices and several legal aid organizations. Organizers have set a $50,000 fundraising goal for 2026, with the aim of expanding support for students pursuing public interest internships during summer 2026.
Alumni, community members and supporters may participate in the event through live and silent auctions or by becoming event sponsors.
